Tell us a little about yourself and family- Hobbies, interests, where you grew up, occupation, etc.
I love spending time outside, rain or shine. Boating, wake boarding, camping, snowboarding, hiking, swimming, you name it. We’ve been particularly excited to introduce all these cool activities to our littles, especially now with all being so close to where we live.
I’m at home with our two little girls (whom I’m sure some of you have heard/seen at the gym), Charlotte and Diana. Before kids, my husband and I lived in the Bay Area, CA, where we both grew up, went to school and eventually met. I was a swimmer in college which lead me to some really cool places and met a lot of amazing athletes. After school I worked in sales for a security tech company.
How did you hear about BCF and what made you want to join?
Google search lead me to BCF but the community and kids corner was what had me sold. The very first time I checked the gym out, Ali was coaching and her two boys were playing (in their Halloween costumes) in the kids corner. After watching some of the workout, I walked out to my car where Linda and George were chatting. They asked what I thought and welcomed me… you don’t find that at many gyms, including other CF boxes.
What motivates you to come to the box week after week?
Aside from getting adult interaction after being at home with two littles, I really enjoy the results I’ve seen. I’m a firm believer that with the right support system, you can do a lot more than you think. If I don’t have the results from a box, I don’t feel motivated to go. BCF has created a space that keeps me motivated to push myself outside my comfort levels. I feed off the energy created from the coaches and other athletes. For me, that high of “I did it” is so addicting. (And my new BCF friends- that’s a given.)
What are your goals? Personal, professional, and/or athletic?
Athletically, my short term goal is to be able to do one strict pull up. Personally, I want to set a healthy example for our kids.
What is your favorite lift, movement or WOD? Least Favorite?
My favorite lift is a clean. My least favorite WOD… name any of the Hero WODS. *Murph*
What is your proudest CF moment?
The immediate thought that comes to mind was during the Open 21.4 workout. I was able to get one lift in at the very end… I don’t remember the weight and I’m pretty sure it wasn’t that heavy… but the fact that I was able to get under the bar and stand up when I was running on empty put a huge smile on my face.
What is one tip you would give someone who is interested in CrossFit or new to CrossFit?
Most likely what you’ve heard about CF through word of mouth is wrong. It’s not about pulling a 600lb sled across an open field on your first day (I’ve actually heard someone tell me that). It’s about strengthening the movements you do on a regular basis without knowing it for a more functional fitness level. “I regret joining CrossFit,” said no one ever.
Biggest impact CrossFit has made in your life?
CF has introduced me to one of my closest friends and continues to provide a strong and healthy mental and physical outlet for me. It continues to humble and build me up at the same time, and for that I am grateful.

Thank you everyone who has worked out with us when we bring the girls. I know that listening to a crying baby or toddler yell “mommmmmmyyyyyy, I have to go pooootttyyyyyy” isn’t the hype you’re expecting during a workout. You’ve all shown us a ton of understanding and support which we really appreciate, and I want you to know that your help/interaction does not go unnoticed. The girls and I always look forward to BCF; Charlotte’s asked a few times, “can we go to the gym/can we see friends at the gym,” and Diana took her first unassisted step there. We’ve made great memories at BCF in a short amount of time, and we look forward to continuing to grow our new friendships and successes.
