"A Community that SWEATS Together, STAYS Together."

We want to provide a safe, encouraging, and positive environment for adults, kids, and athletes of all ages to learn, improve, and reach their health and fitness goals. Most importantly we want to be a place that people leave healthier and happier than when they walked in.

Teen Athlete of the Month- Hayden Holycross

Tell us a little about yourself and family- Hobbies, interests, where you grew up, occupation, etc.

My name is Hayden Holycross, and I’m 13. I have lived in Forest Grove all my life. My dad works at Pacific University and my mom is a Coach here at BCF (Coach Jessi). I like to play the Ukelele, hang out with my friends (movie nights are our favorite), and CrossFit.

How did you hear about BCF and what made you want to join?

My mom is a Coach at BCF and has been a member for pretty much as long as I can remember. I had just quit my competitive dance team, and one of my close friends was going to the Teen classes and seemed to be having a lot of fun so I decided to join him.

What motivates you to come to the box week after week?

After I’m done working out, I feel so good and I love getting a chance to hang out with my friends. I also love seeing myself progressively getting stronger, and I feel that CrossFit has been good for all around wellness.

What are your goals? Personal, professional, and/or athletic?

Personal Goal: I really want to grow more confident. CrossFit has already helped so much with that!

Professional Goal: Well, I’m in the 8th grade, so right now my goal is to do well at school and go to college.

Athletic Goal: To be as good as my friend Jackson some day!

What is your favorite lift, movement or WOD? Least Favorite?

Favorite: Tie between Deadlifts and Bench Press

Least Favorite: Thrusters. I hate them.

What is your proudest CF moment?

PR’ing my Deadlift at 145# a couple of weeks ago.

What is one tip you would give someone who is interested in CrossFit or new to CrossFit?

I’m still not doing the best job at this, but my advice would be to just focus on YOU and not worry about what anybody else is doing. Don’t make it a competition - just work hard and have fun.

Biggest impact CrossFit has made in your life?

It has helped me put on weight and muscle. I used to be really small and I was really insecure about it. Now I feel strong!

Free write: (anything else you want to mention or say)

Just a thank you to my friend and role model at the gym, Jackson and to all the moms that drive us all there!
