"A Community that SWEATS Together, STAYS Together."
We want to provide a safe, encouraging, and positive environment for adults, kids, and athletes of all ages to learn, improve, and reach their health and fitness goals. Most importantly we want to be a place that people leave healthier and happier than when they walked in.
October Athlete of the Month-Megan Brooks
Tell us a little about yourself and family- Hobbies, interests, where you grew up, occupation, etc.
I am an Oregonian, born and raised in Pendleton: LETER’ BUCK! Jaala and I have been bringing our two kiddos into the box since they were weeks old. It is our second home! I’m a paralegal by day, and love style, fashion, and DIY projects in my spare time.
How did you hear about BCF and what made you want to join?
Total transparency: we were looking for an affordable option for BOTH of us to be able to join. We had just moved to the Grove, and it was super important for us to go with our busy work schedules, and to just be all together as a family. Since we both work full time, family time is limited during the week. We were SHOCKED when we learned that bringing kiddos to a gym was a thing. What a privilege!
What motivates you to come to the box week after week?
I mean, let’s be honest: I never WANT to come… oops! I said it! BUT I’m always happy when I do! I’ve got some bad genetics that I want to combat now, before it becomes a problem later in life. Keeping healthy is my main goal.
What are your goals? Personal, professional, and/or athletic?
My goals are to stay fit, strong, and overall healthy as I age [gracefully, of course]
What is your favorite lift, movement or WOD? Least Favorite?
My favorite lifts would probably be back squats and bench press, but only because they are the ones that I’m generally the best at! I love anything with a barbell.
My least favorite movement would be running. I literally DESPISE running with all that I am. My body is just not conducive to that nonsense.
What is your proudest CF moment?
My proudest CF moment would probably be just working out through my last pregnancy. Like.. days before! I never thought I could be a strong and fit mama like that. I was pretty impressed what I could actually do during those 9 months!
What is one tip you would give someone who is interested in CrossFit or new to CrossFit?
The only ‘tip’ I could give anyone is to just try! We all suck at something… like let’s not give everyone credit here. We all have things that we are just never going to be able to do, and that’s OKAY, I promise! Just getting your booty into the box and doing what you can, will be the greatest gift you can give yourself! #modsquadforlife
Biggest impact CrossFit has made in your life?
We have met basically every single one of our friends at the box, who we now consider family. We personally don’t have relatives close by, so it was such a blessing to find the circle of people to call HOME.
