April Athlete of the Month-Hillary Demanett

There was absolutely NO QUESTION who was April's Athlete of the Month! Hillary is killing the CrossFit game! If you see her on Wodify, you notice shes a beast on the rower and bike, has cardio for days, and everyday is getting stronger in all her lifts. This past month, she achieved her 1st ever strict pull-up, followed by another 4! Completed the Crossfit Level 1 certification course, and had taken on the Kids Camps! I am constantly in awe of all she can do and excited to see where the next few years take her! Hillary, you are so deserving of this in every way! Welcome to the BCF team!

Tell us a little about yourself and family - Hobbies, interests, where you grew up, occupation, etc.

I grew up in Coos Bay, Oregon. Ive been married for 14 years and have 3 kids. 1 boy and 2 girls. Im a stay at home mom and Crossfit is my hobby 😄 I used to run marathons but quit when I discovered how much I love the weights and the community.

How did you hear about BCF and what made you want to join?

I heard about BCF when I googled “Crossfit gyms near me” and a groupon add popped up. I thought I’d try it out for a month. But then never left.

What are your goals? Personal, professional, and athletic?

My professional goal is to be the best kids coach I can be!! I hope they like me! As an athlete, I want to be Alise :) I want to get stronger, lift heavier, and enjoy the process along the way.

What is your favorite movement? Non-favorite movement?

I love wall balls and burpees! (Don’t hate me!) I'm also starting to love snatches! Oh and squat cleans. I don’t really care for deadlifts. They’re kind of boring. Guess I should work on that.

What is your proudest CF moment?

My proudest moment was FINALLY getting a pull-up. That’s something I’ve wanted to do my whole life.

What is one thing that people would be surprised to find out about you?

People might be surprised to know I was a caddy at Brandon Dunes gold resort. I once caddied for Michael Jordan.

What is your biggest motivation in life?

My biggest motivations in life are definitely my kids.

Biggest impact CrossFit has made in your life?

Oh gosh what hasn’t Crossfit done for me. It has completely changed my way of thinking when it comes to body image. It’s made me more confident in who i am and how I’m built. I’m seeing it in my girls and how they view themselves as well. They talk about how they want to be strong and healthy as they grow. It has also helped my son with his health issues and has put off any treatments or surgeries he may need, for now. It’s definitely the best decision we could have made for our family’s health and happiness.
